Two things need to happen for me to finish writing a story.
Two things need to happen for me to finish writing a story.
First, I must have an ending in mind. Better yet, I should start by typing out the final paragraph. I may end up changing it later—it doesn’t matter. The ending is the magnet that pulls the rest of the story together.
Second, I cap the length of the story before I begin writing it, typically at one page. Brevity leads to accuracy—you choose fitting words when you have only so many words to show the reader.
